About Sabrina

Sabrina was born in Taiwan
and immigrated to the United States with her family at age 14. Shortly thereafter,
in 2000, she became a Christian and has been attending the Evangelical
Formosan Church of Washington D.C. ever since. At age 17 Sabrina felt
called to full-time ministry at some point down the road. Needless to say, she
was more than surprised when she met Matt, who re-dedicated his life to the
Lord and determined to enter full-time ministry also at the age of 17.
While her Christian faith shapes her worldview
and lifestyle, Sabrina has maintained an interest in things outside of the church,
though her friends may insist that those other “interests” are bookish at best.
Unapologetically, Sabrina is an avid reader, lover of classical music
(especially the cello), and an advocate of the oppressed. She was never really
athletic, but since meeting Matt the gym rat, she has been pushed to her limits
in the gym (i.e. running up to 2 miles on the treadmill, hardcore right?).
About Matthew

Matthew was born in Washington D.C., at
Walter Reed. Unlike Sabrina, who has been staying in the DC metropolitan area
for more than ten years, Matt has moved the majority of his life due to his
father’s career in the military as a chaplain. Matt’s pastor has primarily been
his father, Pastor Bob, who, along with Matt’s mother, have taught Matt to live
a Christian life by the example of their own lives.
At
the age of 17 Matt returned to America from Germany to attend Washington Bible
College and subsequently Capital Bible seminary. A few of these years
were actually spent studying simultaneously with Sabrina just down Good Luck
and Paint Branch road, about a 15 minute drive, when Sabrina was a philosophy major undergrad at the
University of Maryland. Rather than immediately meet her, however, he spent
around 5 years in South Korea teaching ESL first. It was there that he learned
to appreciate Eastern culture, and so cherish not merely Sabrina but her
background as well. This has not been without some needed adjustment, but has
ultimately resulted in his revived calling to full time ministry. He plans to
work with her as his partner in ministry during or after his MDiv studies at RTS in Washington D.C. He loves the gym, and perhaps milk too much. He’s also
decided to take up baking in order to maintain domestic tranquility.
After the wedding...
We plan to stay in Maryland after the wedding, where Sabrina will continue to work while Matt begins his MDiv program at Reformed Theological Seminary. We will attend and serve the local church there as we prepare to enter full-time ministry in a few years. After you celebrate our wedding on 12/10/11 with us and witness our making of the marital covenant, please keep us in your prayers, that our marriage will be one that honors the Lord and edifies His Church.
